Our Engagement Story As time progressed, Ryan and Kara Lee grew closer until they both knew that marriage was in their future. They both picked out a ring but decided to purchase it at a later date after they were engaged. As a symbol, Ryan bout a similar ring at a corner shop in a mall. Kara Lee always loved the 24th of each month and since both of them enjoyed the mountains Ryan decided to propose to here there. After months of planning, Ryan teased Kara Lee by taking her out to a nice dinner at his favorite restaraunt only to take here home without a ring. She would later say that she thought he might propose, but was not in a hurry. On July 23rd, 2003, Ryan made sure he knew where Kara would be the next morning to deliver his surprise. After making a special breakfast of fresh sliced strawberry's over pancakes and homemade syrup, Ryan attempted to deliver the meal only to find the door to Kara's house locked! *Nothing illegal happened to get in!* Thankfully, only the week before Ryan had gotten in by removing a screen and sneaking quitely into a back room. He again did this WITH BREAKFAST in hand! Flowers were also left in a vase, a dozen red rozes and a special pink bouquet of Kara's favorite flowers. Sneaking quietly to her room, only to find that her sister Erin was also staying, Ryan made another plate of breakfast for Erin and quietly woke her to tell her what was happening and give her breakfast also. With a second plate, Ryan woke Kara Lee with a kiss and told her of the meal prepared for her. After a kiss goodbye, Ryan went to work to return for Kara later. With a blindfold in hand, and a ring in his pocket, Ryan returned and rehearsed his words of love the whole way to Kara's house! On picking her up, she had agreed to put on the blindfold and was happy to again. The long drive to the mountains seemed to pass quickly with fun conversation. Arriving at the site, Kara kept on the blindfold and crept to the spot Ryan had picked out. On a large boulder on the side of the river, Ryan knelt as best he could and took the ring from his pocket, expressing his love and devotion for Kara, asking the big question, "WILL YOU MARRY ME?" And she said YES! and they hugged, and had a nice evening watching the sun set over the mountains. Ryan W. and Kara Lee Haines
